(3.00hrs. of drive each way and 6hrs. of trek to the Shali Peak and back both sides)

The trek first begins with an early morning (7 AM) drive of around 44 km from Shimla towards Khatnol. We then start trekking to Shali Tibba which is just 7km from the main road head. After reaching Shali Tibba, we get a briefing about the place and about the ranges visible from there The ascent up to Shali peak is through an ancient trail through dense pine and oak forests with rolling alpine pastures. Beside various species of flora and fauna these forest supports a lot of wild life like Leopards, Black Beers and Barking Deer (Goral), as well as some beautiful birds and pheasants from the Himalayan region and it is safe to take this day hike from Shimla. It is a steep but pleasant walk of about 3 hrs. (7 kms – one way), from Khatnol village, which is almost the last village in the foothills of the Shali peak. The peak commands an unforgettable view of endless snow covered Great Himalayan ranges along with the Sutlej valley and the densely forested hills of Shimla, Fagu and Narkanda. For the avid photographer and nature lover, this hike offers the unforgettable views and the experience of a lifetime. After fueling ourselves with a hearty lunch, we start our descend from Shali Tibba towards Khatnol and drive back to Shimla
